When the world was just beginning to know about tablet PCs and portable computers, Apple came about with its “path-breaking” gadget, the Apple iPad.

Although, in configuration and performance it was similar to other tablet PCs but its exclusivity and that Apple name backing it made it attain those successes which no one thought were ever possible for a meager tablet.
Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs had promoted Apple iPad madly, everything was pre-planned and the result is in front of us. Apple iPad is till date undisputed king of Tablet World.

Along with that, Apple has an application store with more than 5 free games developed for iPad every single day, why won’t one pay for that. It surely deserves the number spot in the list of top 5 gadget of 2010.

Microsoft Xbox Kinect (Project Natal) and PS Move

These two motion gaming variants from Microsoft and Sony could possibly be an attempt to show their arch rivals who’s the boss. It seems they are not fighting with Nintendo but among themselves.

Sony released PS Move, a controller that made the character on-screen move and respond in the way you move, twist and swirl the stick like controller in your hands. On the other side, Microsoft Xbox Kinect had exclusive features.

These were the best gadget in 2010 in the Gaming category. Microsoft Xbox Kinect had no physical controller but a very efficient camera that recorded your body movement in 3D so if you shake your booty while dancing or playing, the game knows.

Samsung Galaxy S i9000

Smartphones were once considered only limited to business class users but Samsung has shattered that concept completely. Although Samsung Galaxy S i9000 smartphone is a costly mobile phone that probably only business people can afford but their range goes to as low as Rs. 9000 ($180).

Samsung Galaxy S i9000 smartphone was launched somewhere in the mid of 2010, it ran of Android but had very good customized user-interface which made it a gadget tough enough to compete with Apple iPhone 4 which was also preparing its launch at the same time.

Samsung Galaxy S smartphone lead to a revolution in the smartphone world after which every brand came out with their version of Android. Like Apple iPad, it was also a big success and very famous gadget of 2010.

Toshiba Libretto W100 and Microsoft Courier

Again both Libretto W100 and Microsoft Courier have been placed together because they are listed in top 5 gadgets of 2010 because of the same reason, dual-screens, One for input and the other for output.

Toshiba Libretto W100 was launched early this year in the second quarter whereas Microsoft Courier is still in the beta phase. Both had an exclusive design with keyboard of a regular laptop replaced with a touchscreen for input.

Both gadgets seemed somewhat identical, they solve the same purpose. Actually Dell Tablet PC is much better than these 2 but still it is placed on 5th position here because it amazingly reduced the separation line between a laptop and a tablet PC.

So friends, this was my list of best 5 gadgets that were launched in the year 2010.
