Dandeli

Dandeli in Karnataka is the perfect weekend getaway for those who miss nature, adventure and wildlife. Dandeli sits along the banks of the Kali river, with the Western Ghats forming the backdrop. The location is surrounded by dense deciduous forests that serve as some of the richest wildlife habitats in the world. The tranquility of nature completely absorbs you here.

There’s plenty to choose from. If you’re a fan of water sports, Dandeli offers white water rafting, kayaking and canoeing.
The wildlife enthusiast can get lost in the Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary where also roam the bison and sambhar.
If you are lucky, you might have a rare glimpse of the black panther. A walk inside the dense forest and you will be serenaded by the chirping of birds, far away from cars and crowds. Then there is trekking, cycling and mountain biking to opt for.
Location : Dandeli is located in North-West Karnataka and falls under the Uttara Kannada district. Dandeli, a town by itself, is 70 kms from Hubli and 32 kms from Alnavar. The nearest railway station is Alnavar. From Bangalore, one could take the train (to Alnavar or Hubli) or KSRTC bus (to Hubli or Dharwad) and take the local bus to reach Dandeli.
How to reach : Dandeli is 580km from Mumbai. You can either catch a train from the Dadar terminal to Alnavar (35km from Dandeli) or fly to Belgaum (90km from here). Belgaum is connected with Mumbai as well as Bangalore by domestic flights. From Belgaum one can rely on a private taxi.
