Matheran

This weekend, breathe in some fresh air in the eco-sensitive (no vehicles allowed) region of Matheran. This hill station in Raigad district is one of the smallest in the country.

Move around on foot or horseback and explore all that Matheran has to offer. There are lakes, parks and various look-out points, including Panorama Point which provides a 360 degree view of the surrounding area and also of Neral town. Louisa Point, Hart Point, Monkey Point, Porcupine Point and Charlotte Lake are some other must-see places.

If you prefer a pre-arranged tour, Adventure Holidays has introduced the Women Triple 'R' Adventure Camps for Housewives. The camp includes planned adventure activities, rappelling, campfire, games, treasure hunts and jungle walks. The package includes everything from hotel stay, vegetarian meals, equipment and experts for activities, transport from Mumbai to Matheran and back.

How to get there : Matheran is located about 100km from Mumbai, 120km from Pune and 320km from Surat. The nearest train station is at Neral. Matheran is connected by toy train to the mainline rail route at Neral Junction.
